Tim Jarvis combines a love of adventure with a passion for environmental issues – a passion demonstrated through his work as an environmental scientist, public speaker and explorer of many of the planet’s remotest places. Tim was voted Classic Boat Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2014 by the world-renowned magazine – their highest award, he was named the Australian Geographic Society’s 2013 Adventurer of the Year for his re-enactment of Shackleton’s 1916 journey. About this journey there was a documentary on Discovery Channel named “Shackleton: Death Or Glory” which will reaired soon. His Journey Tim has documented in his fascinating book Shackleton’s Epic: Recreating the World’s Greatest Journey of Survival. In 1999 he set the record for the fastest unsupported journey to the South Pole and the longest unsupported journey in Antarctica. Finally he is author of two best-selling books, ”The Unforgiving Minute“ about his first 3 polar expeditions, and “Mawson: Life and Death in Antarctica“, the book based on an award-winning documentary film of the same name.
